Location
One of the challenges faced by homeowners is the location of existing light fixtures and switches. As an example, when the home was built the plans called for a single fixture above the kitchen table, but now this location no longer suits your table location and you want to move the fixture so it’s centered above your table. Or perhaps you want a different shape or style of light to extend across your entire dining room table, instead of just a round light in the center. KCD Electric will evaluate your existing lighting location and circuits, to recommend the least disruptive approach to moving lights where you want them.
Is the recessed lighting in your kitchen or living area no longer aligned with your furniture arrangement? If so, you may consider adding or relocating the recessed lighting. Or you might want to add some pendant lights above your island where fixtures don’t exist. We make it a priority to minimize drywall damage and reuse existing circuits whenever possible.
Switches and Smart Lighting
Would you like to control certain lights in your kitchen or dining lighting separately from the main lighting? Many homeowners would like a separate switch for the lighting over their kitchen island, or perhaps the ability to turn on a single light over the sink without all other lights in the kitchen, but this is a challenging situation best left in the hands of qualified electricians.
Another issue that homeowners face is that original dimmer switches were compatible with incandescent bulbs at the time of installation, but as we convert our homes over to LED bulbs, the dimmers are not compatible and result in flickering LED bulbs or problems controlling lights from multiple switch locations.
Smart home solutions like the Lutron Caseta package allow you to control lighting from your phone or through a wi-fi connection. You can set up programs to turn lights on and off at specific times, or dusk to dawn, or define random schedules to light up your home at varying times when you’re away from home.
Exterior Lighting
Many homeowners are considering the addition of security or motion lighting, or adding cameras to the exterior of their home, in places where power does not exist.
